Portfolios enable management of transformation scenarios. In a scenario, each application - or technology for a technology portfolio manager - can be associated with one or several initiatives. The initiative then enables description of:
*The "alternative" life of the applications related to the reference life described on the application itself. You can therefore represent early retirement or extended maintenance for example.
*Costs relating to this "alternative" together with any other criteria, according to formalization of the portfolio.
A certain number of reports allows you to analyze transformation portfolios.
*For more details on report creation, see "Managing reports (Web Front-End)", page 90.
When a scenario is accepted, the life cycles of accepted initiatives replace the life cycles of applications from which they are derived.
