Description of a Data Catalog
A data catalog is a metadata management tool that centralizes physical metadata in one place. It facilitates access to a perimeter of metadata and allows the organization to manage its definition, use and quality.
You can connect the metadata in the catalog to the organization's business objects, reference the regulations that apply to the metadata in the catalog and to which the organizations at stake are subject. You can also create a data lineage from the catalog to better track metadata usage, quality, and compliance with rules.
To define the scope of the metadata, HOPEX Data Governance offers a data discovery tool. It allows you to connect to multiple data sources (SQL, No SQL, files, storage, etc.) and extract a scope of metadata. See Data Discovery.
