Duplicating Objects
To duplicate an object:
1. Right-click the object and select Manage > Duplicate.
The Duplicate an Object window appears.
*Only certain object types can be duplicated (for example: Process category and Process).
2. (Optional) Modify the format of the duplicated object name.
Default format:
< source object name> (Duplicate)
3. (Optional, library) By default, the object is duplicated in the same library as the source object. To store duplicated objects in another library:
Select Create duplicates in another library.
Click the arrow and select the library.
4. Click OK.
The object is duplicated.
If you defined another library, the object is duplicated in the defined library.
Duplicated object naming
There are two ways for naming duplicated objects (duplicate).
The duplicate can have:
a Suffix (default option)
Example: Vehicle Breakdown Analysis (Duplicate)
a Prefix
Example: Duplicate of Vehicle Breakdown Analysis
The option with suffix can be useful when, in a list, the duplicate is located below the duplicated object.
You can modify the Prefix or Suffix used to name component objects of the object.
*The prefix and suffix are not used for objects that are in a namespace.
Duplication strategy choice
For most objects that can be duplicated, you do not have a choice of duplication strategy.
For Process categories, you have the choice between:
“Duplicate Value Streams and Sub-Categories"
“Duplicate Processes”
Duplicating in another library
For objects already stored in a library, you can store duplicates in another library.
*For objects not stored in a library, you cannot store duplicates in another library.
Duplicated object names in a multilingual environment
When you duplicate an object, it must be in the repository language so that translations in the various languages will be correctly transferred to the duplicates.
*To determine the language of your repository, consult the repository properties.
