Creating an External Reference Connected to an Object
To insert and create an external reference in a diagram, see Inserting External References in a Diagram.
To create an external reference connected to an object:
1. Open the properties page of the object.
2. Select General > References.
3. In the References section, click .
*Alternatively, to create an external reference from the diagram, click the External Reference icon in the Insert toolbar. In the Add External Reference dialog box, enter a Name for the external reference and click Create.
The Creation of External Reference dialog box appears.
4. In the Creation of External Reference dialog box, indicate the Type of external reference that you want to create:
File
SWF
URL
*For more details on external reference types, see Types of External References.
*In HOPEX Web Front-End, only external references of URL type are created.
5. Click Next.
The external reference Characteristics dialog box appears.
Its content depends on the type of external reference selected.
6. (Optional) Enter the Name of the external reference.
*The Name of the external reference is the name of the file to be referenced. This box is completed automatically when the Access Path of the file is specified.
7. (Optional) Define the Owner of the external reference.
8. (Optional) In the case of an external reference of File or URL, type, in the Predefined Address box, click:
the drop-down menu arrow to select a predefined address.
*If the file that you want to access is in a predefined folder or one of its sub-folders, it is recommended that you select this folder when creating the external reference.
*If the URL address of the page that you want to access has been predefined, it is recommended that you select this folder when creating the external reference

9. (Optional) In the case of an external reference of SWF type, enter the characteristics of the SWF animation (width, height and variable).
10. In the Access Path box, to reference an external reference of type:
File: click Browse and select the file you wish to reference.
*The file name must not contain special characters (such as ä, ö, ü, é, è, ô, à).
The name of the file appears in the Access Path and Name boxes.
File: click Browse and select the file you wish to reference.
*In the case of an external reference of SWF type, the external reference should be located in the mega_std or mega_usr directory of the site.

11. Click Finish.
