Data Modeling Rules

Checking a Data Model
Repository build is subject to modeling rules. Depending on the product or products you have, MEGA provides a certain number of rules you can apply to objects you create so as to check their consistency.
In a data model creation context, MEGA Database Builder provides "Data modeling regulation". This is used to check business function data models and those to be transformed in relational formalism.
For more details, see the MEGA Common Features user guide, "Generating Documentation", "Checking Objects".
Checking a Data Model
To check a data model:
1. Right-click the data model name.
2. Select Check > Regulation with Propagation.
A dialog box appears displaying the list of regulations that can apply to the object.
3. Select a regulation and click OK.
The effect of this command is to check the object and its connected objects. For a data model you therefore obtain results on the objects it contains, such as entities, attributes and associations.
Check results appear in an HTML report.
