Creating an Inventory of the Policy Frameworks (Internal Regulations)
A business policy is a directive whose purpose is to govern or to guide the enterprise.
In HOPEX Data Governance, aPolicy framework defines a set of business policies.
It is composed of sections and sub-sections that represent categories of business policies. Under these sections you can define the business policies, the assets constrained by the policies in question and their implementation.
Example
A company's internal regulations are defined in a business policy framework.
This framework has different sections that represent policy categories: security, reception, cafeteria use, etc.
Each section has business policies: locker closing, table cleaning, etc.
Creating a Policy Framework
To create a policy framework:
1. Click the Compliance > Frameworks navigation menu.
2. In the edit area, click the Policies tab.
3. Click New.
4. In the window that opens, enter the name and the description of the policy framework.
5. Click OK.
The framework appears in the list.
Adding a Section to the Policy Framework
To add a section to the policy framework:
1. In the navigation tree, click the icon of the framework then New > Policy Framework Section.
2. Specify:
the title
The description
(optional) the objects constrained by the section. It can be business data, physical data, application data, etc.
(optional) implementation: these are the business rules that implement the policies of the section. See Ensure Compliance with Data: Create Business Rules.
3. Click OK.
The section appears in the navigation tree.
Adding a Business Policy
A business policy is a directive whose purpose is to govern or to guide the enterprise. Business policies provide the basis for business rules and govern business processes. A business policy is always under the enterprise control. In general, business policies exist to to govern; that is control, guide, and shape the strategies and tactics.
To add a business policy to a section:
1. In the navigation tree, click the icon of the section concerned then New > Business Policy.
2. Specify:
the name of the section
the title
the comment
(optional) the concept definitions that can be associated with key words of the text.
(optional) the objects constrained by the business policy
(optional) implementation: this concerns the business rules that ensure the effective implementation of the business policy. See Ensure Compliance with Data: Create Business Rules.
