Examining an Idea
When an idea is submitted for review (irrespective of the source):
It can be assessed and noted by the innovation manager or other stakeholders.
The innovation manager can complete the idea, for example, by attaching it to the architecture element or the capability concerned, to obtain a more precise project.
Assessing an Idea
You can start the assessment on a portfolio or on a particular idea.
The innovation manager can ask for an assessment or proceed his/herself with the assessment.
Assessing a particular idea
To assess an idea:
1. Click the navigation menu, then the Ideation pane.
2. In the edit window, click All ideas or My ideas.
3. Select the idea in question and in the Action column, click the Properties button.
4. In the properties window, click the drop-down list then Assessment.
5. Expand the Assessment section
6. Click New Assessment.
7. Select the values for the following fields:
Strategic Alignment Level: 1 to 10 (the higher the value, the better the level)
Feasibility: 1 to 10 (the higher the value, the better the feasibility)
Costs (budget): 1 to 10 (the higher the value, the higher the cost)
Benefits: 1 to 10 (the higher the value, the higher the benefits)
Risk: 1 to 10 (the higher the value, the higher the risk)
Once the assessment is completed, click Validate Assessment to transfer the assessment values to the idea properties.
The Spider chart section displays the results of the assessment in chart form.
Assessing the ideas in an idea portfolio
To create an assessment for the ideas of a portfolio:
1. Click the Ideation navigation pane then Idea Portfolios.
The idea portfolios appear in the edit area.
2. In the Action column relating to the idea portfolio in question, click the Properties button.
The portfolio properties appear.
3. Click the drop-down list, then the Assessment page.
4. Click New Assessment.
5. In the window that appears, select the ideas to be assessed:
Some
All
6. Click OK.
An assessment line is created for each portfolio idea with the different criteria in a column.
7. For each line, select the values of the different criteria.
Once the assessment is completed, click Validate Assessment to transfer the assessment results to the idea properties concerned.
