Creating a Data Catalog
To create a data catalog:
1. Go to Catalogs > Inventory.
2. In the edit area, click New.
3. In the catalog creation window you can define:
• the catalog name
• the owner
• the organizations at stake
• the regulatory frameworks and business policies that apply to the metadata in the catalog
4. Click OK.
Once the catalog is created, you can define the Deployed Data Stores.
Data Catalog Workflow
A workflow is available to follow the different states of a data catalog:
• Preparation
• Validation
• Update
• Production
It can be instantiated by the owner of the data catalog and any manager assigned to it can participate in its progress.
Notifications are sent to the different managers whenever the status of the data catalog changes.
You can define the managers of a data catalog in the catalog properties, under the Characteristics > Responsibilities page.
