Data Processed by the Excel Import/Export Wizard
Data Displayed
Metamodel view and product view
The MetaClasses, MetaAssociations and MetaAttributes that appear in the Excel worksheet reflect the view of the metamodel (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert, System).
For example, if you are connected in Intermediate mode, only those objects corresponding to the intermediate metamodel will be displayed.
Similarly, only those concepts accessible with the products you have available are proposed.
Management of links and link attributes
In addition to MetaClasses and MetaAttributes, the export wizard supports:
Links and link attributes
Tagged values
Certain MetaAssociationEnds that present maximum cardinality of 1 (eg: "Aggregation of" on an Application).
Macros
Languages
By default, only those MetaAttributes in the current language are displayed.
An option allows you to manage MetaAttributes in each available language (for example the Short name of an object in French, English, etc.).
To activate this option:
1. From the HOPEX desktop menu, select Tools > Options.
2. Select Data Exchange > Import/Export Synchronization > Tools/Third Party Formats.
3. Select the option Import/Export EXCEL: MetaAttributes Translation Availability and click OK.
Value lists
Columns representing MetaAttributes with tabulated values present drop-down lists enabling selection of one of these values.
A list of values cannot be defined on an unlimited number of cells in a column. Automatic creation of a list of values is limited to the first 500 cells of the column.
To modify this value:
1. Open the options window.
2. Expand the folders Data Exchange > Import/Export Synchronization > Tools/Third Party Formats.
3. Specify the new value in the field Excel: Maximum number of rows to be completed in sheet.
The number of characters composing all values should not exceed 256. Beyond this figure, the cell displays the internal value (independent of language) instead of the external value. A tool tip accessible in the first cell displays correspondence between internal and external values.
Dates format
By default, dates format of files generated by Excel import/export is: yyyy/mm/dd.
To modify this format:
1. From the HOPEX desktop menu, select Tools > Options.
2. Select Data Exchange > Import/Export Synchronization > Tools/Third Party Formats.
3. In the option EXCEL Import/Export: Dates Format , define the format and click OK.
Non-Modifiable Data
For export, MetaAttributes that cannot be modified by the user appear in a grayed column in the Excel page.
It is possible to export properties that cannot be modified, such as calculated attributes (for example "Name" MetaAttributes that contain the object owner), but it is not possible to import these. The wizard indicates that you do not have permission to update these properties. In the case of object names, favor the "Short name".
Whether export or import, the first two lines of an Excel worksheet are reserved for file configuration. Ensure that no data is entered in these first two lines.
File Formats
The wizard supports two file formats:
xls
xlsx
