Functionalities Specific to Windows Front-End
Using Backgrounds
You can place an image or define a color as a background to your diagram. By default, no background is selected.
To place an image as a background:
1. In the View menu, select Background.
2. In the Background dialog box, select the Type of background Image.
3. Click the Browse button

to display a dialog box where you can browse the directories and select the image file (Bitmap, Metafile or
HOPEX shape).
4. In the View frame, select the type of background image:
• On screen
• In printed document
• In reports (MS Word) and Web sites
5. In the Position and Size frame, define the position of the background by entering values or by positioning the background in the preview:
• coordinates of top left corner (X, -Y)
• dimensions (Width and Height) in the drawing
6. Click OK.
The background is included in the shapes loaded in the diagram.
Calling Shapes
To insert a shape into the diagram:
1. In the insert toolbar, click

then click
Shape.
The Load Drawing dialog box opens.
2. Select the desired shape by clicking its drawing.
3. Click the Open button, or double-click the drawing.
The shape is inserted at the center of the display area.
The path of the file containing the shape is saved in the diagram that calls it. When the diagram is loaded, the shape is first queried using this path. If the shape is not found in the specified folder, it is queried in the standard shapes folder.
If a shape itself contains other shapes, all the shapes are loaded.
Remarks on using shapes
You can cut, copy, paste, duplicate, group, ungroup and move shapes in the same way as other drawing objects.
To modify dimensions of shapes, enlarge these in the workspace using the mouse. However, you cannot change their color.
Print Preview
In a diagram, the menu File > Print Preview gives you a quick preview of your diagram as it will appear when printed.
If your diagram covers several pages, you can click Previous or Next.
Finding Objects in a Diagram
You can easily find an object in a diagram (flowchart, organizational chart, etc.).
This functionality is useful when you cannot display the complete diagram on the screen.
To find an object in a diagram:
1. In the HOPEX menu bar, select Edit > Search in diagram.
The Search in Diagram window appears.
2. In the list of objects proposed, select the object that interests you and click Next.
The desired object is selected and appears in the center of the screen.
