Using the Search Tool to Connect an Object
The search tool can be used:
• to list all of the objects of a given type.
• to find an object whose name begins / ends with a string or contains a given string
Querying objects of a given type
To obtain all objects of a given type:
1. Connect to HOPEX.
2. Click Main Menu then Advanced Query.
3. In the Select Object Type drop-down menu, select the object type to which your query relates.
4. Click Find.
The result window lists all the objects of the repository found through searching.
Querying objects containing a particular string
You can query objects containing, beginning or ending with a particular string.
To obtain all objects that contain a given string:
1. In an object property page, expand a section or select a page in which you can connect objects.
2. Click the Connect button.
3. (Optional) In the first field, select an object type for the query through the drop-down menu.
By default the query relates to the Name, Beginning with the string you enter.
4. Enter a string in the field provided.
5. In the drop-down menu of the second field, select a query criteria if needed.
• List: to list all objects of a given type
• Containing: to list objects containing a particular string
• Ending with: to list objects ending with a particular string

The last option selected becomes the default option.
6. Click
Find 
to run the query.
7. Select the object(s) of interest to you.

Whenever the result contains many objects, you can use the vertical scrollbar and/or the page arrow.
8. Click Connect to display the object(s) in the property page.
Choosing the object selection mode
At times the search tool may offer you several modes to select objects.
Example: you want to define the scope of an org-unit and connect organizational processes. You may choose to select processes from a list, a tree, a candidate process query, etc.
