Extracting Customizations: Building the Custom Package
Once you are ready with the customizations included in one or several completed Work Items you can push them from the Development environment to a Staging/Production environment.
To push the completed Work Items to a Staging/Production environment you first need to extract them into the Custom Package. If the Work Items includes both System and data related customizations, two log files are created:
Data related customizations are packaged in an *.xmg file
Format: has.custom.data-yy.mm.dd.hhmmss.xmg
System related customizations are packaged in an *.mgr file
Format: has.custom.systemDb-yy.mm.dd.hhmmss.mgr
with:
yy.mm.dd: the date (year.month.day)
hhmmss: timestamp in UTC+0 (HourMinuteSecond a 6-digit number)
To create the corresponding log files:
1. Access the Content Manager page.
2. In the System & Data page, click Add .
A message prompts you that you are going to publish your current work.
3. Click Yes to confirm.
All the current completed Work Items are added to the package.
4. (Optional) To check a Work Item content:
In the Work Items section, select a Work Item.
In the Dispatches section, select a dispatch.
Expand the Dispatch Details section to view the details of the selected dispatch.
(Not recommended or with caution) Clean your Work Item.
If the Work Item includes dispatches that are not relevant, you can remove them from the Work Item: select the dispatch concerned and click Remove .
The selected dispatch is removed from the Work Item (but it is still available in the repository).
5. Click Generate.
The log files corresponding to the completed Work Items are created and added to the corresponding list of System & Data page:
System list: has.custom.systemDb-yy.mm.dd.hhmmss.mgr
Data list: has.custom.data-yy.mm.dd.hhmmss.xmg
with:
yy.mm.dd: date (year.month.day)
hhmmss: timestamp in UTC+0 (HourMinuteSecond)
E.g.: in System list the "has.custom.systemDb-26.04.03.130020.mgr" (April 3, 2026 at 13:00:20 UTC+0)
*If needed, you can revert this last update, see Reverting the Last System and Data Update.
In the Work Items page, the selected Completed Work Items are now packaged in a Work Item Package folder.
Folder name format: yy.mm.dd.hhmmss.
