Specifying Data Exchanged With Other Applications
You can describe the message flows exchanged between applications, with their direction and content. This information enables creation of exchange mapping.

A flow represents the circulation of information between two agents in the Information System (for example, two applications, an application and an actor, etc.). This flow is defined by a sender, a receiver, and exchanged content, symbolizing the data being transported. A flow is defined in absolute terms.

A Business data indicates content of a message flow. A Business data can be used by several message flows, since it is not associated with a sender and a destination. The same business data can be used by several message flows.
To create a message flow of a source application to a target application:
1. Open the properties pages of the source application.
2. Click Characteristics.
3. Expand the Exchange section.
4. Click Sent Flow and click the New button.
The creation of flow with content dialog box appears.
5. Select the Receiver Agent.
6. From the Content field, select the business data you want to associate with the message flow.
7. Click Next.
8. (Optional) Connect Flow Measures to characterize the flow.
9. Click OK.
