A workflow participant enables to define the set of persons which can be assigned to a workflow transition in the framework of the execution of a workflow instance.

Persons assigned to the workflow transition can trigger it.

When a person triggers a workflow transition, persons who can trigger the next transitions must be assigned to it.

Depending on the configuration of the workflow participant and next workflow transitions, persons assigned to the next transitions are either automatically computed or requested from the person triggering the current transition.

Assigning a person to a workflow transition in the framework of the execution of a workflow instance enables to specify that an operation is expected and that this person can execute it. One of the assigned persons can then trigger the workflow transition to indicate that he/she has performed the corresponding operation.
