An activity defines a sequence of elementary or complex actions drived by parameters. Coordination of actions is realized through control flows and data flows. There are actions that invoke activities directly or indirectly through operations.

Activities may describe procedural computation. In this context, they are the methods corresponding to operations on classes. . Activities can also be used for information system modeling to specify system level processes.
