Performing a Search
The list of metadata concerned are meta datasets, simple and structured meta fields, schemas, and deployed data stores.
This tool searches for character strings in the Name and Description of metadata.
To search for metadata in the data catalog:
1. In the navigation menu click Catalogs > Search.
2. In the edit area, in the Search field, enter the name or the first letters of the name of the searched metadata.
Used at the end of a word as in "Liberal*", the asterisk allows you to find the different suffixes like "Liberalism" or "Liberalization".
The list of matching objects appears.
Search filters
You can refine the results using the filters in the left panel:
• Data source
• Responsible party
• Data category
• Link to a business term
• Compliance with a quality policy or regulation
• Use of the metadata
• Presence of a data lineage
The values proposed in the filters depend on the results obtained: for example, when the searched metadata appears in several sources, the filter allows you to restrict the search to one of the sources found.
Metadata characteristics
When you select a metadata in the result list, further information appears on the right side of the edit area.
The Overview tab shows:
• Responsibilities on the metadata
• Indicators about the objects associated with the metadata
• A description
The Advanced tab shows:
• Data lineages
• Applications and processes that use the metadata
• Quality policies that address the metadata
• Regulations
The Data Processing tab displays in a dendrogram report details of physical data processing scanned and imported from Manta in HOPEX Data Governance.
