This chapter presents the library concept proposed by HOPEX.

Libraries are used to split HOPEX repository content into several parts.

Libraries can be seen as logical repositories. Libraries are not simply a means of classifying objects of a repository, they are real partitions of the repository.

Objects owned by different libraries can have the same name but they are different objects. An object can belong to only one library.
