Connecting a Data Model to a Database
You can create a data model from the database or connect an existing model to it. The data model enables representation of the structure of the database, the entities it contains and their associations.
The database data model is the default owner of entities and associations represented in the data diagram. These owned entities and associations can however be used in other data models.
To create a data model:
Click the database icon and select
New >
Data Model. This command creates a new datamodel as well as its associated diagram. See
“The data model", page 21.
To connect a data model:
1. Click the database icon and select Connect > Data Model.
The query dialog box appears.
2. Click Find.
3. Select the desired data model and click Connect.
