Accessing External References
You can access an external reference from:
a diagram
object
the properties dialog box of an object
the navigator
query tool
Opening an external reference from a diagram
To open an external reference inserted in a diagram, you can:
Right-click the external reference and select Open.
Double-click the external reference.
Opening an external reference from an object
An object can be connected to several external references.
To open an external reference from an object:
1. Right-click the object and select External Reference.
When only one external reference is connected to the object, this will open directly.
When several external references are available, an intermediate dialog box listing the various external references available appears.
2. Select the external reference you want to open and click OK.
*This feature is available in MEGA Windows Front-End only.
Accessing an external reference from an object property dialog box
To open an external reference from the properties dialog box of an object:
1. In the object properties dialog box, select the General tab, then the References subtab.
2. Select an external reference and click button Open
The external reference opens.
Accessing an external reference from the navigation window
To open an external reference from the navigation window:
1. In the MEGA menu bar, select View >Navigation Windows > Documentation.
2. Expand the External reference folder.
3. Double-click the desired external reference to open it.
*This function is available with MEGA Windows Front-End only.
Accessing external references from the query tool
To open an external reference from the query tool:
1. In the MEGA toolbar, open the query tool.
2. In the query wizard, select External Reference and click Find.
The list of external references appears.
3. Double-click the desired external reference to open it.
External references relative to the environment or site
You can locate your external references in a sub-folder of the environment or site.
This folder relates to the environment or site. This allows you to move the environment or site without having to worry about path validity.
Path example:
C:\MyEnvironment\ExternalRef.doc.
If the environment is moved to another network resource, the path (relative and not absolute) remains valid.
