Software component that can be deployed autonomously and weakly coupled with the rest of the IS.
It is generally of low granularity, covering a unique functionality of the Information System.
It can interact with other application services (Micro or not), applications or application systems.
Examples: Calendar, Shopping Card Management, Payment Service...
